The issues that arise from this are the fan noise of the cpu fan in the quad i7 waves server and that that same server can become underpowered as new more demanding waves plug-ins are released. One issue with the DiGiGrid iOS-xl is that it is all in one, meaning the processor for processing the waves plug-in and the audio card are combined in one unit. Well, I did some more research and have some conclusions to offer: the cons of the UAD apollo were the price of the plug-ins and the sparc processors being a bit weak making the unit limited and underpowered to run all those pretty plugs they picture on the website in good numbers and that they cannot be run in “native format and require UAD hardware, (unlike waves) - also the latency seems to be a sort of UAD secret. The only cons i have yet to hear is of the price and something about the fan being permanent - not sure if that means it is not user replaceable or if one cannot turn it off for noise reasons. The Ethernet gigabit limit is i believe is about 150 tracks (24/96) at a nearly unlimited cable length.

I know it is listed to support all the usual suspects like Cubase, but it does not list Maschine or other standalone instruments.Īny thoughts on this, I was as well interested in the UAD apollo as well but i already have waves mercury plugs, though some of the UAD mic pres sound tasty, and the limit of the cable length and fragility of usb c/T3 is annoying: i can have about 6000 tracks but only 2M of cable. Which brings me to this, has anyone tried using the DiGiGrid iOS-xl with maschine, or for that matter with any other NI software. So, it is something new and shiny time, with knobs and enough tech to feel like one is doing sysadmin instead of music. After several months of isolation and being driven crazy by my daughter during a feeble attempt at homeschooling, i am at the precipice of complete depression and uselessness and desire a new toy to find salvation in.
